Menindee (NSW)
Menindee is one of outback NSW’s most historically significant and visually striking
destinations, famous for the Menindee Lakes — a vast interconnected lake system that
transforms the landscape when full, attracting spectacular birdlife and unforgettable
sunsets. Located along the Darling River, Menindee blends natural beauty with deep
pioneering history.
As the oldest European settlement in western NSW, the town is linked to the Burke and Wills
expedition, historic homesteads, and iconic red-desert scenery. Kinchega National Park
provides rugged outback landscapes, native wildlife, and access to the legendary
Menindee Station woolshed.
ShowcasingOz TV will be exploring the region’s stories, river culture, lakeside views and
national-park experiences during our 2026 filming journey.
