Normanville & Yankalilla (SA)
Normanville is a relaxed seaside town on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, located beside a long sandy beach approximately 75 kilometres south of Adelaide. Together with neighbouring Yankalilla, Carrickalinga and Lady Bay, the town forms an important visitor destination along the Fleurieu Coast.
The Normanville district developed during the nineteenth century as agriculture, grazing, mining and coastal trade expanded across the southern Fleurieu Peninsula. Normanville’s beach and former jetty provided a connection between the district’s farms and coastal shipping, while Yankalilla became an inland service centre for surrounding rural communities.
Normanville is now known for its accessible foreshore, village atmosphere, cafés, accommodation and proximity to several of the peninsula’s most attractive beaches. Normanville Beach stretches between Carrickalinga to the north and Lady Bay to the south, offering opportunities for swimming, walking, fishing and coastal photography.
Nearby Yankalilla retains a strong historical identity through its churches, museum collections, older buildings and long association with the surrounding agricultural district. The Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre provides local travel information while sharing its site with the Yankalilla District Historical Museum.
South of Normanville, Lady Bay and Wirrina Cove combine coastal scenery with resort facilities, golf and elevated viewpoints. Farther along the coast, Second Valley is recognised for its historic settlement, sheltered beach, jetty, rock formations and clear water popular with swimmers, snorkellers, divers and fishers.
The district provides a convenient base for exploring a broad section of the Fleurieu Coast without extending into destinations more appropriately associated with Myponga, Victor Harbor or Cape Jervis. Visitors can combine beaches, heritage, scenic drives, local businesses and outdoor activities within a relatively compact coastal region.
ShowcasingOz TV will be capturing the beaches, attractions, heritage, landscapes, accommodation and community stories that define Normanville, Yankalilla and the surrounding Fleurieu Coast as part of our national filming journey.
