Uluru / Yulara (NT)

Uluru and Yulara lie in Australia’s Red Centre, approximately 450 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs. Uluru rises from the desert within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, while Yulara is the nearby resort township providing accommodation, dining, tours and essential visitor services.

Uluru and Kata Tjuta form part of a living cultural landscape of profound importance to Aṉangu, the Traditional Owners. Tjukurpa, the foundation of Aṉangu law, knowledge and culture, connects the land, its features and the stories that have been passed between generations.

Uluru is internationally recognised for its immense scale, changing colour and distinctive geological form. Visitors can experience designated walks, waterholes, rock formations and viewing areas while observing cultural protocols, remaining on marked paths and respecting restricted sacred sites.

West of Uluru, Kata Tjuta comprises 36 towering domes separated by valleys and gorges. The Valley of the Winds and Walpa Gorge walks reveal another striking part of the national park, with access sometimes restricted during periods of extreme heat or for cultural and safety reasons.

Yulara was developed as a purpose-built visitor centre to reduce pressure on the national park. Today, Ayers Rock Resort brings together hotels, serviced apartments, restaurants, galleries, shops and organised cultural and desert experiences within one compact township.
